I know Eric very well... Says he knows a guy with a sweet contour - tells me it's a 24V... Says you have had "good luck" with it and have quite a bit of stuff done to it...
I need to talk to you, He's installing a new motor in my '99 Taurus 24V and I want insight on what could help her go a bit better....
Later,
Nate

I have no idea where Paodi, PA is or 'Eric', unless it's Eric Ford but I do have a 24 valve contour.
The contours came with two engines: 2.0L 16 valve I4 and 2.5L 24 valve V6. The V6's were the base model (170 hp) and the SVT (195-200hp). Is this guy replacing the engine in the Taurus? Guess so - I just scrolled down...
What the guys did to mine when they installed the Taurus 3.0L (the 24 valve Taurus engine is the same as the Contour, only .5L bigger) into my SVT is knife edged the crank, added a Fidanza flywheel and they did a three angle valve job to my heads. The Taurus Duratec (the 24 valve version of the 3.0L - not the Vulcan) has larger valves than the 2.5L contours so I had them put them in. I've been contemplating custom cams for a while to add to my list. There is a group buy going right now from a relatively new guy named Travis. I don't know much about him so I'm not recommending him at all - just showing you an option. There is a veteran guy on here that offers CNC machined heads for the Contours and Taurii - you could order a set of heads through him but that's relatively expensive.
My recommendations would be the MSDS headers for the Contour (I'm pretty sure they'd fit - you may have to do a lot of research on that), a freer flowing exhaust and an intake filter designed to let more air into the engine. If you want to talk engine internals that can get expensive, i.e. knife edged crank, CNC heads, cams, etc.
Good luck!
Oh, BTW, they may have been referring to Jason (PA3LSVT) - I believe he is near you.

Jason (PA3LSVT) lives in Conshohoken and had his work done at a sop in Bridgeport. I don't know the name of the shop. He has a 3L in his SVT.

If Eric is the dude that used to work at JK Ford in Conshy, and was at the race at Cecil County, MD spectating, who had an SVT, wrecked it, and then bought a new one - you're talking about me.
Paoli is a bit west of the Blue Route on Lancaster Pike (Rt. 30).
And here I am, snow tires in storage, watching my car sit immobile. But at least I get to play with a 7 year old in the snow (she'll be home from school any minute now).

kinda off topic, but what is knife-edging the crank, and whats the benefits of it?

They literally grind all the edges of the crank and make sure it is still balanced. It's just like adding a lighter flywheel - it reduces the rotating assy's weight. My car revs quite quickly now!

Naaa. eric used to work in Malvern at Al Lackman Transmission/auto repair. Now he's at Ikes Auto...
Never worked for a ford dealer...and I don't think he ever worked in Consh... Or anywhere outside of Malvern/Paoli, pa area.
Yes, it's Paoli - not that other name (can't remember - another post).
