I must say I am very impressed with the Valentine One Radar Detector. I have only had it for about three and a half weeks, and I have been saved many times over. It is super sensitive though and will go off if you fart. But once you learn the area and sounds, it is awesome. And it is just as sensitive from behind. Every single time a radar gun was behind me I got plenty of notice. Either way I would get a warning before the radar gun is in sight. X, K, Ka, POP, Instant on and off, I have ran into them all with know problem. Laser is another story. I read that if your laser sound goes off you are pretty much toast, but I haven't experienced laser as of yet. And reading how it works, I would tend to believe this. I spend a lot of time on the road and I have really given this detector a workout, and I must say it has not failed me once. There are a few more scenarios I need to encounter, but I am impressed.

yeah, the laser for mine has only gone off about 3 times over the course that ive had it for about a year. each time that its gone off, its only been for like a second and then it stops. no cops ever spotted either when it goes off.

I've been using radar detectors for years. I've used a V1 once but I had to go cordless since they're not entirely legal here in VA, but that's better than nothing. I've experienced pretty much every scenario you can think of while using detectors. Including highway hazard alerts. Most of the time if you get a laser reading you are indeed toast, just pull over and get your information ready, LOL! However, you can be saved if 1.) You have a good detector, which the V1 is, and 2.) The detector picks up the laser signal while it's focused on another target. A couple things I have noticed about laser detection as well is that the detectors sometimes go off if there is a very strong digital cell phone signal. For instance if your digital cell phone rings and it's very near the detector. The second thing is that detectors don't seem to pick up laser signals gradually like they do radar. It's usually all or nothing, so you'll hear one instant BIG alert. Another thing you have working for you is that laser or LiDar as they're called are line of sight. So since the cop has to see the road they have to stay pretty exposed giving you a better chance of seeing them. Bad news is that they are just as accurate at night, so it's harder to see them then. Just the other night my detector was blazed by a laser signal, I was lucky since the cop was focused on another car, because I would have been done for without a doubt. Thank you radar detector

John you are the one that got me thinking about a radar detector, and I must thank you sir ! I remember you recommended the V1 or Passport. They both rank high, but I just chose the V1 because it can detect radar from the rear. Really good investment. I have yet to test VA. I mount it high so as not to be seen, but I might have a hard time because of the BIG red arrows. Thanks for the laser tips!

You're welcome Craig, and just remember, keep your eyes open and stay alert. Don't let them pace you. No protection against that. LOL! Could you imagine...."Sir, did you know that you were speeding." "Um, no officer, my detector didn't tell me that you were following me." Hahahahaha!
