My HEI on my 74 Nova wasn't stock, even though it was from a 75 Nova, but they failed me and sent me through all kinds of hell. I went to the referee over and over and over for stuff that wasn't even checked at any old smog shop. The HEI was ok for smog also, the guy was just an idiot that screwed up my life for months. My friend tried to smog with just a K&N filter and they would not even test it. Basically, it's not worth it to fail and have to pay AGAIN and AGAIN, over something you could temporarily reinstall. Sorry for the rambling, just brought back bad memories.
learned my lesson there as well... just don't go to a state funded smog check place, find a mom&pop shop - MUCH easier to deal with...

I know we do...feed the children....for a small donation of only $5,000 (make check payable to Streetflight regarding Little Jonny's turbo) you and you alone can end this childs hunger for speed.

I finally got my truck finished as of today. Registration was $56 (I'm military non-resident so I get a break)
Emissions $70. This is not regulated by the state. To find the best price, shop around. It can be had for as little as $35 as I found out tonight.
Vehicle weight tax. Starts at $8 and goes up. Get your car weighed with as little stuff in it. At 3000lbs, it goes up to $24 and at 4000lbs it's up to $72. The state's thinking is that the heavier the vehicle, the more road it tears up. My truck weighs 4740lbs with 1/4 tank of gas in it, so I was screwed and then they consider any pick-up as commercial so I think I paid for that too. Their thinking on that was that I can conceivably haul something in the bed of my truck, so they charge me commercial. I'm glad to know that because I put some girls, trash or grocieries in the bed of my truck, I get charged commercial fees.
That is all.
