I may be moving to California and during my investigations found out that I need to pass SMOG testing in order to bring my car with me. Does anyone know whether I would need to be worried about this if I have only changed my airbox on my 99 CSVT? Is there a difference between the CSVTs that went to CA and my Michigan CSVT?

Yes, one of the main problems you will have is a non stock intake. As soon as they see it, yoinks you fail. I don't see the rest being any different though. Depending on where you move, I still have my stock stuff just for this occassion if you want to borrow it for the day. Any modification to cat and up(includes aftermarket cat, y pipe, headers, etc.) is illegal, but unless you take it to a jerk that HAS to see everything, they won't look because it's hard to see that stuff. Basically any mod to the engine is illegal technically in CA. Welcome to the Sunshine State.....Just to clear up any future confusion on exhaust....you can do whatever you want to the cat-back area for Smog, but the local cops might not like it too much.

I have a stock air box, filter and all for such an occassion, coming up next month for me actually.
If you move anywhere near LA, lemme know and i'll bring it to you if you need it.

If you move anywere near san diego you can use it, i just wont bring it to you, like this crazy guy who must get gas for free or something.

Where abouts in California are you moving to?
I'm sure that if some of us are in the area, we can point you to a shop that ignores silly restrictions... And merely tests your actual emissions...

How about at the Import Show off Classic on Dec. 13th. Read the post about it. I think there is a couple of people going. I'm trying to touch up things on my car before then so I don't show up with a raggedy bucket, especially compared to Dion's beauty. The one time you saw my car it was filthy, and that's not my style  . I wash that thing once a week usually.
