My speed sensor seems to be gone on my 95 Tour ATX. There is no output from it (measured with an AC voltmeter, with the engine running and wheels spinning). The speedo and odometer are both dead.

I can't get this sensor out. I removed the holding plate but then the plastic body is firmly stuck in the tranny. Any secrects on how to remove it? The new part is coming tomorrow (btw, dealer only).

Thx, 95ContourGL

No special instructions in the Haynes manual....

4. Unscrew he clamp bolt, and remove the clamp plate securing the drive pinion and vehicle speed sensor.

5. Pull out the speedometer drive pinion and bearing assemply, together with the vehicle speed sensor. (Sure, no problem...)

Thanks, Scott, I have the same manual... it does not match what I see, especially item #2. I do not have any nuts holding the sensor confused ) This is why I am hoping to hear from someone who actually did the replacement.

I'll try to learn something from looking at the new part.
