Okay, back on topic... I have no intention of mounting the amp inverted on the rear deck. I would like to make a rack similar to the one Nate S posted if I can manage it with my rudimentary skills . If anyone who has a similar setup could post some pics or info it would be greatly appreciated (the majority of the ones in the archives are outdated).

In my very first electrical engineering course in college, on the very first page of the textbook it read "Electrical engineers have it all over mechanical engineers because they can turn their products upside down without the oil spilling out"!!! From an electrical standpoint; amplifiers can be mounted horizontally, vertically, upside down, etc. From a thermal standpoint, it would be best to mount the amp to a conductive surface, or if not available, so that the fins are oriented for best convection (heat always travels up).

i know this is a stupid question, but would there be a downside to mouting it on the back of the rear seats, with top of amp facing rear. i know this is a common mounting method, but the amp is closer to upside down than right side up. could there be any heat problems w/mounting this way?

but now, i'm seriously thinking about a similar setup to the one nate s posted. NICE RACK!!! what would one need for a rack like that? just a piece of wood and some long screws w/locknuts? how long of screws would be needed.
