ok, i have a zx2. now i know its a different tranny than the contour, but i was hoping to get an answer from some other Ford guys. heres my problem.....

my third gear grinds when i shift into it . so i called the dealer and they said it MIGHT be the clutch or it MIGHT be the tranny. if its the clutch, then its not under warranty and they'll charge me $80 just for lookin at it. so i wanted to make sure its the tranny, so i drove around a couple of blocks and noticed that it only grinds when i shift into 3rd over 4k rpm, anything under 4k its fine. then i also tried goin over 4k, leaving the clutch pedal pushed in all the way, shifting into 3rd, and it still grinded. now, it still goes into gear and stays in gear, but what is the problem? the clutch? or the tranny? oh and i only have 200 miles til my warranty is up so i need to know farely quickly please. if its my clutch, i wont worry too much about it cause i'll just get a Centerforce Clutch. but if its my tranny then i'm off to the dealer.

I would say "Bad Syncros", which are located inside the tranny.
