Im going to be dropping the front subframe this weekend to install a new drivers side front control arm. Everything looks straight forward out of the manual but I was just wondering if there were any tips or tricks anyone could give me. Ive searched quite a bit and picked up a little helpful information but it seems that subframe topics are scattered everywhere and my dial up probably prevented me from missing quite a few.

Any advice? Anything I should do or look at while the subframe is down and out of the way?

I wanted to go ahead and throw on a heavier swaybar while I had it down but funds wont allow it. Maybe if It doesnt prove to be to much of a hassle I can do it at a later date since I will have the experience.

How easy are the subframe bolts to remove and re-install? Thanks for any help.

You might want to leave the stock front sway bar in place. Putting on a heavier one up front might upset your handling negatively. The bigger benefit is by upgrading the REAR sway bar.

While you've got the front subframe off, you can check out the fittings on your steering rack to make sure you don't have leaks there.

It's pretty straightforward, just take your time. Also make sure you have a set of sub frame alignment dowels to line it back up!

I don't know if you ran across this one, but here's a link to the write-up I did on A-arm replacement in March. Click-o-Rama Hope that helps!

Me and a friend just did to trannys in two months. and the biggest pita is getting the power steering lines off of the steering rack. The trick is to lower the back of the sub frame with a jack 6 inches or so and then you can get to them. There not on very tight, so you dont need alot of leverage just enough room to turn them. Feel free to pm if you have any specific ?'s
