Check for a vaccum leak. Either that or it just could be the way the car sucks in air. It does operate on a vacuum system, as all combustion engines do, so it is constantly drawing in air on it's own... it's hard to explain, but if the configuration is just right, you will hear a high pitched noise from the induction system. As long as the car is not running rough, it should be ok. My friend thought she had a bad bearing in her Firebird because of a low pitched rumble that she had never heard before.... took the airbox loose while it was running and the noise got worse... using our ears it wasnt hard to figure out that it was the induction system.
