I do not believe it has anything to do with the type of tire, ratings on the sidewall are tire manufacturers requirements. Always fill to psi recommended by car manufacturer, which is found on the side panel of drivers' door.

OMG...yes it does. i gauruntee if you put pressure enough for stock tires in a set of blizzaks, you will either have not enough, or too much air. most likely now where near enough. i would look on the sidewall of the tire to see what the max pressure is. on snow and ice i would run it Approx. 5-8Psi less than the max.

Huh? Do you have some experience when you lived in another state?
I run my Blizzaks near the rated pressure on the driver's door jamb. More will feel better on dry handling, but like every other tire, cuase pre-mature wear in the center.

yes i do i lived in alaska for 11 years, (only 3 of which i drove) but at any rate. yes i do. a set of winter itres in alaska will last like 7-10 years, because of how very little wear your tires actually do while driving on snow.
EDIT: and i said less than the MAX.

You always go by the tires recommendations, who made the tire, the car manufacture or the rubber company

Just a note. Driver's door jambs tire readings are not always ideal. They are ideal for the manufacture to sell there car. Usualy has to do with how the ride and handling not so much tire. Remever firestone issues. Also that is with factory tires. If you put anything diferent on it can change. Tire side wall references max psi. You don't want to in any way set it to the max tolerance. But a happy medium were tire longevity(sp) and wear are not an issue. I know kinda of confusing. Engineers debate for hours on tire pressures.

I run mine at 29 psi. Any more and I tend to wear the center of the tire out too fast.
