While replacing my upstream bank 1 O2 sensor today, I broke off a very thin grayish blue plastic tube that was connected in a u type formation with some other tube at the top of the engine near the firewall. From there it disappears down the firewall to I dont know where. Where it broke, it was snugly fit into a holder type thing. Any idea what the heck it is for? Could it be a vacume line? It was about the thickness of a toothpick. Hope this doesnt sound too vague. Thanks, John

Sounds like a vacuum line to me. Probably connected to either your EGR diaphragm or the Purge solenoid bolted to the firewall. You'll want to trace that as soon as possible and plug it, otherwise you'll start running lean, and setting unnecessary EGR or purge codes.

Could be vacuum line for either HVAC controls or EVAP system. The vacuum hoses to/from the EVR solenoid (the round black thing) only available as an assembly, best to try and repair. Check vacuum routing diagram label in engine compartment.
