I just took her in cuz the secondaries werent opening and it would dump at 4 grand occasionaly. Felt like nothing was there, no power, almost like it was hitting the rev limiter or was getting to much air or no gas, definate no power and surge. They decided the IMRC was seized and replaced it, now the secondaries work great, but the dump is back, at about 4K nothing, it just stutters or stumbles. Its been about 2 weeks, and my waranty expires after next month. I gotta figure this out. Anyone got any ideas?

I might suspect the fuel filter and/or plugged cats or pre-cats. RacerX10: I couldn't tell if you had an ATX or not, but ATX tours will not rev past 4K in Park or N. (Tranny/diff. protection built into PCM) The CEL light will go out if the error condition that caused the fault clears up. EGR passages in UIM behind TB clog up and are a common cause of EGR related error codes. Remove the TB and clean up with TB cleaner and soft rags. Plugs and/or wires also could be a cause of the stumbling. The IMRC should open normally at around 3800 RPM and can be tested in the driveway by operating the throttle by hand and watching the linkage.

If the car is under warranty, why not take it to the dealer? To me it sounds like a possible fuel pump issue. My '00 SVT is having stumbling/stalling issues, but at low rmps. I've been reading anything I can find and the majority of the higher rpm issues with stalling seem to be pump related.
Just a thought!

Sounds like a fuel pump to me, car used to buck bad at high rpm, near redline...felt kinda like downshifting quickly w/out rev matching. I thought it was the fuel shutoff. It started doing it at lower and lower RPM's and finally I could not drive over 2000RPM, pump finally died on my 2 miles from my house. Have em' check that while the warranty is good...my guess is you'll find out for sure what it is within a few weeks.

He has an SVT ie: 5speed. You can rev that sucker until fuel cutoff at around 7k. It's on the ATX cars you can't rev past about halfway.

Madic, does it seem to make a difference if your tank is full or near empty?

I havnt been able to fill the tank, its about at 1/4 now but was about 1/2 when I "noticed", I havnt been driving it to much. I noticed today that it would especially dump after a tight turn, maybe because what little gas the pump is picking up is swishing around, I now think it is the fuel pump. Im going to take it down soon. Does anyone think I should just keep about a 1/4 of gas in the tank to make sure the dealer notices it? Im scared if its all the way full it wont do it and theyll tell me I dont have a problem. (they like to do that ya know. wink )Thanks for the reply guys.

Put Scots engine into it and take it in. You will get a new engine, and Scot can have the old one from your car! wink

I don't think that they would notice it had an engine swap. :p

YES! Leave the fuel low...if it is the fuel pump filters clogged as mine were, the symptoms will vanish with a full tank and the dealer will shrug it off. Actually I doubt there is anything wrong with the pump itself...just one or all of the three in tank filters clogged. When the warranty is up you'll be stuck doing it yourself...here's a sort of "how to" and you'll save lots o' $$$$$! Returnless Fuel Pump Exposed!
