What would cause the plastic covering the speedometer to begin to stain ???
Does not come off with the cleaners I have tried.
Is bad enough you can not read the numbers !
Any suggestions ??
Can just the plastic be replaced ??? How ???
What if I just removed the plastic entirely ????
Thanks... Phil T

There's a part number on the plastic. You could probably order that if you need to. I can't get mine to come clean either, no matter what I use, but it's not so bad that I can't see my gauges, so I just say forget it.

This staining is probably from the slow deteriotion(not spelled rite, it's late) of plastics in the car. This causes a film to form on the windows that can be cleaned, though the speedometer plastic itself is probably getting old, thus permanetly being "stained". Cracking your window on hot summer days can help this to not occur as badly.

I don't know what if your stains are like the stains I had on my instrument panel when I bought my car used but waxed these drop stains off of my instrument cluster.

The plastic on my guages is as clear as it was when brand new...I always wax it with regular car wax when I wax the car. Seems like it makes it easier to wipe clean when I just need to get the dust off too

A number of car interior vinyl cleaners (eg:Vinylex) warn not to get any on the clear plastics of the speedo display. It says it will cause fogging. Maybe that's what happened.
