Two years ago my 95 Contour SE had it's automatic transaxle fail at 105,000 miles. AAMCO replaced it with a remanufactured transaxle for $2200. I now have 155K on the odometer and I began noticing a strong kick when the transaxle is shifting from first to second gear.

I took the car in to a local AAMCO (not the same one that did the service) for an inspection. They told me that the transmission mount was cracked and that the entire transmission would need to be replaced AGAIN! Also they told me the rebuilt transaxle is out of warranty.

Infuriated, I took the car back to the AAMCO who did the original service. They did a complete inspection and now have returned the car indicating they found no problem whatsoever. The kicking has subsided but I still notice it now and then.

I'm thinking about calling AAMCO corporate to file a complaint. Does anyone have any advise?

Best regards,
Paul

Sounds like BS to me. I'd file a complaint! BTW, my grandmother took her Buick to AAMCO three times and it still didn't work right. Each trip costed her $1000 to 2500. mad

The shifting is electronically controlled and your problem could be remedied with a computer reset. (My head-jerking, dash shaking shifts cleared up after a computer reset...) Also check the wires leading into the ATX and make sure everything is plugged tightly. Also check the fluid level when idling and in park. Top up with Mercon type fluid using a long neck funnel if low.

Can we assume you serviced the tranny between the rebuild and now?

Suggest a drain and fill trying synthetic ATF (Mobil makes one as does Amsoil and RedLine) and the additive LubeGuard (available at NAP) A cheap fix if it works
