My car is similar with only a "24v" tag on the back. But, it's an ATX, still I like it!
I did swap the 14" steel hubcap wheels for Ford alloys though. They're from another CEG'er and are 15" twelve spoke rims.
Always been a fan of sleeper cars, since the days of 302 V8's in Mavericks and Fairmonts.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

Welcome to CEG, JimCat.
I've got a REAL 98.5 SE Sport and I love her despite her problems. I'm on my second ATX and I'm doing everything I can to keep it alive.
I am also ready to turn 80k miles on her, and she drives just as strong as the day I bought her, four and a half years ago.

Dittos on welcoming you to the CEG group! I purchased an identical Contour SE Sport last December, for $7900 (it had 54K miles). I love driving it - will keep it for quite a while. This site will be a great resource for you in your quest to enjoy your Contour to its fullest.

Hi Jimcat, from another of the few older guys here...who appreciates a nice handling car w/mtx (hard as those are to find) like these that also has 4 doors. Even though back seat is not the greatest for space for bigger kids it is there and usable and accessable when you need it.
These cars are even a much better deal used than they were new...so those of us who came to them late get a great bargain...even we we have to do a lot of repairing.

Hey, JimCat, I'm a little late reading this but thought I'd tip my hat to you as well Always nice to get good members and know some people do appreciate these cars considering how little most know about them.

I was practically drooling when we rolled it off the lot! (still in shock!) When I'm in college (next year), my sister gets it. I have to give up my Tour... This car has made me appreciate driving though. I'm planning to buy a pre-98 Tour when I am a sophomore in college and will commute from home. Thanks for the compliments anyway! And it is such a nice car to drive!

HAVING JUST TURNED FIFTY, i can tell you not just young guys like nice handling mtx cars. i am a used car dealer and i sell a lot of contiques. i luv my 2000 svt but my son has it this month at baylor university. now my money and my car go to baylor!!! oh well, he graduates in may so maybe he will get a job and i can get my 'tour back. he said he gets a lot of "what kind of car is that" remarks. since he is at baylor university, most of the rich kids there drive yuppie cars. they havnt a clue of what a contour is. welcome to the site, lots of good imformation and insights.
