OP jdfet Junior Member J Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 12	Two words, Ignition Coil! The stumper was that it seems they tend to fire 2 cylinders off instead of 1. (misfire that is)Everything else had checked out fine. Maybe this will help someone else!

OP jdfet Junior Member J Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 12	My symptoms were.....The car was 'stumbling' or 'bogging' down real bad when I would step on the accelerator. Almost as if it were not getting enough fuel. Auto Zone is offering a free diagnosis if your check engine light is on. I would imagine even if it was not on and you are detecting a problem they would still trouble shoot it. Again it showed a misfire. (or a P0304, 0303 would be cylinder #3, 2-#2 etc.) I had started with the easy stuff first like replacing the plugs and wires first. The coil only cost me 70.00 at Pep Boys. Ford wanted 125. and did not have it in stock. Anyway, hope that helps.

OP jdfet Junior Member J Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 12	Its a 96 and has 17k on it. We just bought it about 5 or 6 months ago. Its the 4 cyl. When we bought it, it had only 10,5 on it. Thats an average of 25 miles a week. I dont know that thats especially good though. It runs great again.
