Man, my AutoXray must be a POS.
What can I use to retrieve the more advanced data?
The main reason I got the AutoXray is because it doesn't need a laptop.
That's no longer a concern now, since I have the super blazing fast 166MHz Toshiba Tecra 740CDT AND a car adapter for it.

I went back to the dealer (after scanning the codes to be SURE the P0420 was in there) and after waiting about 4 hours for someone to look at it, I'm getting a new cat.
The only thing is they want to replace the cat monitor (which I believe is the O2 sensor) as well, and that isn't covered under the warranty.

Before I got rid of my previous car, a 1994 Tempo, I swapped radios. I liked the Tempo's radio better. That counts as a mod, doesn't it? I also kept one of my Tempo's wheels to use as a spare. I hate those stupid ?compact? spares that come with modern cars. Does this count as a mod? If so, I guess I have two mods. Replaced burned/melted blower switch and connector on 19 February 2002 with a 1P3T toggle switch from Marvac and a Molex connector from Rat Shack; I guess this now makes three mods.)

That's the one I'm considering.
Does the software have the ability to display real-time fuel economy like OBDscan (the other low-cost OBDII scanner) does?

Problem is that they want to charge me $90 for this...and flashing the PCM *IS* covered under the 8 year/80,000 mile emissions warranty (based on the fact that every TSB that requires flashing the PCM says it's eligible under the emissions warranty).
Do you have anything to proof PCM is covered 8/80 ? I need to get it reflashed but don't want to pay for it - i am at 69K now

The EPA has a FAQ about the federal emissions warranty--the PCM is most definently covered for 8 years/80K.
Also note that if a TSB covers the reflashing, it says "warranty coverage: applicable under the terms of the bumper to bumper warranty and the federal emissions warranty" at the bottom of the TSB.
I would take this to mean that ANY reflashing ot a PCM is covered under the warranty. Also of note is the fact that Ford does NOT want their dealers to replace the PCM for a problem, it is to be reflashed unless the PCM is damaged or cannot be flashed. There's a TSB out about that too.
