I have a 96 Ford Se and my dad has replaced the water pump 2 times. My stepdad works for ford and he told me he will look at it now. But does any one know what the deal is with this thing. my car just over heats and leaks through the water pump!
I have a V6 2.5 liter 24 Valve engine.

I'd have the system flushed to make sure there's no little bits of the old impeller floating around the system.
Also be sure that you put a new gasket on when you put the new pump on and that no old gasket is sticking to the mounting points....

If it is the impellar that keeps breaking, you may want to check the suction cone inside the pump housing to see if is coming loose. By the way, what engine?

My '98 popped its weephole at 55K, and the replacement has the plastic impeller. I'm fortunate THAT part didn't break on me. I think yoou can find a WP with a metal impeller by looking through the Mods section on this site. As for your current problem, have you replaced the thermostat?

I paid $54 for a brand new Steel Impeller water pump from Napa. I also had 2 water pumps go out within 4000 miles of each other.
