Heya guys and gals,

To make a long story as short as possible, I'll just say that I lost my normal set of car keys last night. I didn't think that this would be TOO much of a problem, as I have an extra set of keys from when I bought my car.. HOWEVER, replacing the keys that I lost is a problem. As I now have only 1 PATS programmed ket for my car, it is going to cost me $100 PLUS the cost of the key ($32 with tax) to replace my key... (an additional $55 for the remote, of course...

So.. My message to you all is this.. Go to your dealer, and buy a third key... Use your existing keys to program this one, and put it away... The reason for this, is that you need to have two programmed keys in order to program a third one.... Don't get bent over by Ford and thier a$$holish attitude about charging $80-$100 for programming your keys...

Cheers,
Tom

That sucks. However, when I bought my SVT, I got three PATS keys from the dealership with it.

THat isnt true. We had two programmed keys and lost one set, leaving us with just one key. We bought a blank, for $30 or so, and programmed it ourselves using our 1 remaining key. Did you try programming your own before you went to ford and had it done?

Actually, I haven't had Ford do it yet (I am balking at the outrageous price).

To answer your question, I have tried to reprogram it myself (using the methods described in previous posts), but it didn't work. According to my manual, I should be able to program the keys with just one copy, but it just ain't workin'.

Cheers,
Tom
