Just curious what you guys believe a 1998 VW GTI VR6 (MTX) would run with a Vortec supercharger @ 10 psi, larger injectors, and a few internal modifications (not sure exactly which ones) and a 50 shot of Nitrious. I know this is not a wonderful description of this cars mods has but I'm just looking for a rough estimate of 1/4 mile time. Thanks.

They are maybe .1-.2 sec quicker stock for stock with a stock SVT. They have good TQ. I was on the arse of one in my SE.

They are geared differently than the Contours are. When they get into thier 3rd gear they can usually pull away for a little while. Mean Green (Duratec MTX) could never keep up to them after that point. I was always impressed by the VR6's abilities. With those mods it's hard to say. it will depend entirely on traction issues, car weight (stereo?), tires, etc... With that kind of upgrade to it the VR6 could be looking at anything in the mid 14s to mid 15s. If your friend can't drive I'll outrun him in te Focus... well... no...

More like mid-13's if they can get traction. I would check out the various VW boards to see some real numbers, but a VR6 with those mods should be close to 300 fwhp in a 2800lb. car. Sounds like fun to me

I'm not sure what stage Supercharger is but I know I heard him say it was pushing around 300whp and thats without the spray. I honestly have no idea how good of a driver he is and I know he has decent tires on it, so I'm honestly guessing that it could be in the mid 13's maybe even low 13's with Nitrous. (Thats out of my reach for sure, but I was not planning on racing him). Thanks for the info Guys.

i dont know about the gears being different, but my ex used to have a 98 GTI. pretty sick car, had tons of neuspeed suspension work done, but she could never pull away from me. the only thing she had on my tour was the limiter. as soon as i hit about 114 she blew by me at about 130. i drive this car for myself, a bunch of times, beatiful car, forget abot it!

A lot would depend on the driver too, seeing as I have yet to read anything good about VW manual trannies. I know a guy online who used to have a GTI VR6 5spd, and he says that the syncho couldn't keep up with rapid shifting. Car and Driver has complained time and again about the ropey, terrible shifting action in Jettas and GTIs. In some tests, C/D has managed 0-60 times only in the mid 7s; sometimes they do much better and get it down into high 5s with the 1.8T. (???)

P.S.--Oh, and I'm not saying slushboxes are the answer.
