On my 98, if I leave the lights on that chime that should come one, does not most of the time. At the same time, the dome light does not come on. When it does chime the dome light and the light under the driverside dash all work. I have notices that when it rains, or last week when it was snowing they both worked after weeks of not working. I would say about 85% of the time they don't work. I talked to a dealer, but they said they would have to hook it up to the computer, and I don't care so much as to pay the 80 bucks for that. Any ideas?

In case it matters, its the 98 LX

DON'T TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!!

From your description, it sounds as though the circut for the door switch (that little button in the door jamb) has a faulty ground. Remove each of the switches, clean them and their mounting points.
This might solve the problem, if not one of the connections in the door harness is likly to be corroded. Try to disconnect, clean and reattach the plugs for the door harness inside the door jam, between the hinges.

Hope this helps

the door switch is most likely corroded and not working correctly. all you have to do is pull the switch out, has one wire on it and clean the contacts.

my front passanger door is doing this, the lights will turn on for a split second when that door is oppened but then will go out.

it is really easy to do, just make sure you don't loose the wire into the body, you might not be able to get it back

before you take it out, push the knob it in and out first, mine is plastic and gets stuck sometimes, i put a little electric greese on it and works fine now, just dont want to see you go through more hassle than nessary
