Well well.

I returned from the dealer (Meadowvale Ford in Mississauga, Ontario) and they claim that my 1995 Tique requires a new rack.

This will be the FOURTH rack since 1998. Yup. The other three were covered under our extended warranty....but now they are snowing us for more than a grand for the repairs.

Now what do you think about that?!!!!!

I read in an old post that went as follows:

"what is wrong with your rack and pinion so that you are having to replace it. before you spend any money on one, try a bottle of lucas power steering conditioner. it will fix most anything except a totally blown seal or a hole in the hoses. this is great stuff. get it at most any parts house."

Has anyone else had this problem (rack that is)?

I tried adding the fluid suggested and will see what happens today.

Anyone else with this problem? Solutions?

Ok.

I added this stuff from Canadian Tire called Power Leak...whatever. Anyway, I now have no problems whatsoever with the steering. The clicking sound is GONE as is the stickiness in the morning when the wheel is turned right and left. Hum..
