If I took out the only catalytic converter under the exhaust manifold and put a straight pipe there ( not done yet) and then proceed to putting a high flow cat UNDER the car in place of the resonator.... whaddya think? Think moving the cat will do anything? Or do you think i should just put a high flow cat where the stock one is?
Well I think putting the high flow under the engine will cost less than trying to mount it in front of the engine. Also it may keep some extra heat outta the engine bay which doesn't hurt. Flow is gonna be bout the same no matter where you put it.

just did the gutted precats last night! much easier than i expected and a noticeable butt dyno difference. although i stripped my god damn y-pipe to manifold bolt and cant tighten it so i got a wicked exhaust leak....but that will be fixed tomorrow. there was so much catalyst in there it is no wonder people do this mod! glad its finally done thanks to todras for posting the link and whoever put together the how-to. very simple mod....saved me $600 more or less

The CEG fundraiser thread is thumbtacked up in one of these headings ... A 5% donation is what I shoot for when info on this site saves me money.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Aren't you supposed to put the cat as close to the engine as possible? Something about cooling down the exhaust so it flows best? Don't know for sure, just somehting I remember hearing.

I will get around to getting an intake at some point......maybe even put those PS and ALT pulleys on.

I thought hotter cat cleans exhaust gasses better, therefore closer to the front. As for flow, I don't think it matters much.

Cats have to be hot to work. The Precats heat up before the main cat does, but once the main cat heats up, it works fine.
Cats have nothing to do with cooling the exhaust, or improving flow.
Function before fashion.
