Hey all,
Haven't posted in a-while. Saturday i replaced my waterpump with a metal impellar unit from www.spmotorsports.com , new w.pump drive belt, thermostat, temp sending unit for dash under t-body, coolant flush and redline water wetter.
well everything was okay after i found out i had installed
the wrong t-stat cause it was misboxed. i had to tear it all
back apart on monday and after that it works perfect now.
My temp gauge stays right in the middle now and never moves
before it went from N to A all over. Now it stays between
the R and M all the time. and it heats up faster on these
cold winter mornings. any one who has not replaced theres
yet and suffers irratic gauge readings you should do this to
waterpump-$75 w/ shipping
t-stat-ford part-$19
temp send unit-$22
waterpump belt-$13
coolant-$10 2 quarts
waterwetter-$8
I recommend all these parts for DIY guys and gals, it was worth it to save my engine and fix a annoying problem.

Tear it all down? 2 bolts and the t-stat comes out.

Wow, mine never goes above the O, but my sender is also original at 135k.

If mine is right, and so is yours, I'd almost say that thermostat is set a little "hot". I'm not about to replace mine though

My temp gauge isn't stamped with "NORMAL". I just have a C at the left side & an H at the right. I musta got a leftover Tempo or Escort face for my SE (Surplus Edition).

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Clogged pre-cats seemed to make my temperature fluctuate from the N all the way to the A. After getting the pre-cats gutted, chaning the water pump to a metal impellar version, and adding some Water Wetter, my temp gauge never moves off of the N.
