I have the Duratec V6 on a 1998 Ford Contour. I have installed the KKM Air filter, and have noticed that on hot or moderately warm days, the engine loses alot of power. Is there some kind of shield or preferably an airbox assembly that can be used to keep the heat out?

I would prefer not to have to relocate the battery.

Go to Target. Buy small plastic garbage can. Cut out the bottom of said garbage can. Remove and reinstall the intake with the garbage can around the filter; sheilding from the motor but open towards the fender.

If ya wanna, run a dryer hose (usually 3") from that opening of the end of the filter, down through the fend and up to the bumper's fog light hole or the front grill.

Do a search for 'heat shield'. You'll find a ton of info.
