on a 96se with a 2.5 are both cooling fans two speed? when the passenger side fan goes to high the driver side fan shuts off. car has been overheating, motor has 30,000 on it, radiator was replaced with motor.
Mine do that too. If the fans are roaring away, and the engine is still HOT, I suspect the water pump. Seen too many bad ones. I have one from tour 2 with 24K with cracks in the plastic. Mine blew up after a high speed run at 42k.
