Has anyone else found it next to impossible to flush the coolant in the Contour? I don't know how things are set up on other years' cars, but on my 99, it's impossible to access the drain plug, or the lower radiator hose to be able to flush the coolant. Any tips from someone who has done it? Thanks

I did mine on a Lub place.

It was a backflow flush with hot water.

Very impressive: engine was running HOT all the time and after the flush it won't even pass the middle point, unless on traffic.

It didn't cost much at all. IIRC was $40. And the guy let the hot water running for few minutes, til ONLY clear water was coming out.

Think about that.

Well....I don't know about anyone else, but I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to get the screwdriver in there. I just couldn't get a good angle on it. Any tips?

get a long screw driver and stick it between the air compressor and some hoses there. It should go fairly easy into the slot. You may bust your knuckles but a little blood for the tour ain't so bad, right?

I just took mine to jiffy lube. They did an ok job, except for the fact they didn't fill up the coolant all the way.

I took mine to Jiffy Lube once and the coolant turned brown within 2 months. Thought I had a major engine problem. I changed it myself and it has stayed a nice green color since.

I had the same problem with a 95 Contour, so i got angry and grabbed a pair of vice grips and slowly took it off that way, that way worked great! too many plastic parts on them contours tho.... if use the vice grip method, and your radiator drain plug is plastic like mine, dont put the vice grips too tight...
