well, yesterday I bought a 98 contour se, It has 16k miles on it, I payed $5,700 cash for it. It has complete maintence history all work has been done at the original dealer from which it was purchased. I found the site while reasearching contours and figured that it will prove to be a valuable resource for modifications and maintence. What I was wondering is what is the most radical thing that anybody has done with there contour?

Well, welcome to CEG . I hope you enjoy your stay on this site. OMG 16K on a 98?? Wow that's damn low and a good buy. Tell us more about your car. Is it a V-6?? Sport model?? Color?? If you have the V-6, make sure u get the water pump changed with the metal impeller because the impellers break on the 95-98's and it cause your engine to overheat. Make sure that the wiring harness recall is done. Oh yeah by the way, do you have the clock in the middle of the dash?? If you do, it's a 98. If you dont have it, its a 98.5. The the car refreshed in early 97 giving the 97 models a short production so that's why there are 98-98.5's.

Most radical?? Hetfield wrecks his car 'bout every time he drives it - that's pretty radical.

And by the way, welcome to CEG!!

You are gonna LOVE your car - especially if you use this site regularly. You will learn a bunch about it & save TONs of money if you ever need a repair. ENJOY!!

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

It's the 2.5 V6 automatic, its silver with grey leather interior, Im not positvie about the recalls, I would think sense the guy took it to the dealership everytime that he would have had them done, but i will have to check more closely in the servise schedule and see if theres any note of it. Im gonna try to keep up the dealership maintence schedule like the guy before me did so I know that im getting quality work done.

NO.

It's the PATS light ... there's a chip in the key that allows that key only to start the car. Any key that doesn't have a chip in it (i.e. unauthorized copies) will not start the car. You can read more about it in your manual. Theft deterrent, but not an alarm or anything.

HA! Yeah, right... quality work from Ford. That's a laugh.

I'm just kidding. Kudos to you on your cherry of a find! Low miles, low price, good car with good options. Wlecome to the boards.
