Produces the same heat as a stock. Air flow while the car is moving is going to carry it away. Wraping indroduces condensation and will cause rapid deterioration. I say just leave it alone unless it isn't stainless then spray paint it to deter corrosion.

1. You mean the same stock one that uses insulation between the piping and the SS heat shielding covering it's entire length.

The stock one runs significantly cooler on the exterior.

If you are smart you would wrap any non-OEM Y-pipe (ANY regardless of "coating"!) with a good thermal wrap.
This saves adding a tremendous amount of heat to the oil pan and engine bay!
No amount of airflow is going to pull enough heat away either. Also it's not like the piping is sticking into the airflow anyway. It's tucked up as close to the oil pan and subframe as possible therefore making a perfect convection oven to radiate it's heat too.

2. If you "follow all the proper procedures" when using a thermal wrap it really is not very harsh to the piping underneath. After 1 year "my piping" (beneath the wrap) looks the same as the day I painted it and wrapped it.

Don't know where you got that info from.
Disregard the pipe on top (CAI)

Here is the with and without Ceramic Coating.
Stock vs. Jet Hot

You telling me this isn't true? Show me 1 instance where it's not.

"Wraping indroduces condensation and will cause rapid deterioration."

Sorry I should clerify better.
Dont know about the header wrap, because I never used it.
But regarding the heat from an aftermarket Y-Pipe.
There is a huge increase in heat if not properly modified.
If mine wasnt Jet Hot Coated I would have wrapped it.
But I also live in CA and the wet weather isnt to bad.

Sorry about the thread jack, but is that CAI for your tour? it looks like it would snake perfectly from the throttle body through the opening in the front fender. Seems to me like the wrap would be the better option if you have sufficiently prepped the surface below the wrap.

Yeah the intake pipe was originally designed to snake itself under the stock battery location.
However, I have since relocated the battery to the trunk.
The CAI is Jet Hot Coated right now, but yeah wrapping it would help as well I would assume.
Im working on extending it to fender area to eliminate further engine heat as well as inserting the stock MAF.

It's fabricated with-in the piping. You could see the edges
of it in the middle of the pipe. Thats what I want to cut out and try the stock MAF instead. I think the car will run a little better with it. It seemed fine until i swapped in the 3L. At idle its kinda ruff (rpms) slightly dropping below normal.
