Ok, for anyone who has done these things already, here it is:
1) If I drain and refill the cooling system by just opening the radiator drain plug, and letting everything flow out, how much coolant would I need to refill it?
2) If I flush and fill the auto trans in the car by opening the drain plug, and letting that flow out, how many quarts will I need to refill the tranny?
Thanks guys.

1.) About 1 jug of straight coolant. Not 50/50.
2.) Look in your owners manual.

Good question! I was needing that answer also. But... Why the straight coolant? Isn't the water going out also? One jug is 4 quarts? A little bit confused.

I just performed maintenance item # 2 on Tuesday on my A.T.
When removing the drain plug (use the largest 3/8 ratchet you have) you are only going to get about 4 qts to drain out. This procedure is a "drain and refill service" and not a flush. I prefer doing this on a regular basis (every 10K) than doing an elaborate flush. Feel its safer not to stir up any contaminants. I recommend using Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.
Your owners manual should tell you the cooling system capacity. Use a 50/50 mixture to refill. Check level after system cools down because trapped air may of bled off.

The confusing part is when you said "Not 50/50".

Yes, but when you refill it you need to bleed te system otherwise you will have one hell of an overheating problem if air is in the system.
I think it is 8 quarts
#2, 9.5 quarts auto transmission, do it a few times to get it out of the torque convertor and cooler, otherwise you will be mixing old and new fluid

Yea 50/50 premixed. Already mixed when you buy it.
