I stumbled on this site while looking for the 1/4 mile times for a bmw 325 xi, has some pretty good information and is set up in a nice format I haven't seen before (cars listed in order by 1/4 mile times) I am still exploring the site as I am typing this... 1/4 mile times
EDIT: I now found the next sports car I want... 1993 RX-7 TT, 172mph top speed according to that site! crap!

Hmmmm.... I wonder what those are like....
I can't verify 172mph, tho. That's just nuts.

The SVT looks even better when you look at the track times.
It ranked 18th on both of the track numbers.
18 out of as many factory cars on their list, is pretty damn good.

Pretty interesting although I think the 87 Buick GNX should be bumped up a bit. I seem to remember 13.5 @ 104 as pretty common for a stocker. The times they list look more like GN times.

Concerning the 1993 Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo, I had one for about 3 years. The top speed, according to Motor Trend or Car and Driver, was 160 mph. I probably broke 100 mph only once or twice. Anyway, it takes a lot of extra horsepower to go from 160 to 172. Those cars are fast and they handle great (on dry pavement anyway) but I read too many advertisements for cars that had the engines replaced. I was told that replacing the turbos alone was over $3,000. So I sold it and now I have kids instead.

Boy that gives me increased confidence. I would have never thought these cars were faster some of those listed. I've seen that site so many times, in fact it's on my favorites list, but I've never gone through and looked at the lists. Wow, I feel so good now. I just want to go race people...

SVT's top speed has to be over 144 though (::ahem::)..so that should move them up that list... -Tim
