For awhile now, my w/shiled washer hasn't worked, and lately my ventilation fan works only at high. Occasionally, when I hit a bump, railroad tracks, surface imperfections, the shock (& awe) will make the fan work at all stops only to cease working after a bit of time passes, like maybe the next time I use the car.
Has anyone else had this problem? I suspect it's in some junction or what, at leaast for the fan.
Any thoughts for a cure?
Thx

Loose connector at blower motor resistors would give symptom you describe. These resistors and the blower speed switch were the subject of an extended warranty by Ford. Check your car's VIN at dealer, perhaps resistors were replaced and connector was not properly snapped in place.

W/W pump motor possibly faulty. Best to first check for volts at motor connector, when washer activated, to confirm wiring ok. Motor should be available from auto parts store.

Disassmble your fluid reservoir and remove the pump/motor. Make sure nothing is clogging the suction.
Had the same problem a few years ago. Turned out to be a gloppy, slimy mess which was the congealed polymer from the Rain-X washer fluid. Cleaned the pump/motor and it worked fine afterward.

According to the service manual I need to remove the front bumper cover and bumper. Is there a work around for this; or maybe it's not as much a pain as it sounds???
thanks

Perhaps you overlooked while reviewing FAQ section's common problems: Fan only works on high

I'm going to try and check the blower out this weekend(if I can find the time). If I have a solution, I'll post it.

Would it be too much to ask for pictures on this? My pump just stopped working too and I suspect the same problem (Went months without using it).
