First questions: What part of the car is it coming from? What color is it? The best bet to find what it is/where it's coming from is to look!

Where on the engine? Crawl under and look for the trickle. There should be a wet mark around your oil pan, seems to be common. Try looking for something fresh and still wet.

Don't forget to look at the top of the engine, too. I had a leaky valve cover gasket.

i will first thing tomorrow. it is common for the oil pan to leak? i am a little nervous because i have never had an oil leak before. all that keeps running through my head is large repair bills.

Yes it's common and non-life-threatening as far as I know. The oil pan seal appears to weep a little, but it wouldn't drip on the floor as far as I've experienced.
After my top-end mods (see profile pics for detail) I also had a leaking valve cover gasket. Check there and around the crankshaft pulley.
