Hi Guys....I havn't posted much on this board but I joined it to get help with my wifes ride...

its a 96 Zetec GL...

Her 5-speed is taking a dive....it grinds when shifted into 2nd if you don't shift very slow...also double clutching really dosn't help much....and now it will not downshift without reving it up from 3rd to 2nd...

this I know is a synchro issue...

is it cheaper for me to pull the trans and replace it with a new/used one....or fix it?

I've only pulled a FWD trans once and that was on a CRX....it took us 2 days...how hard is it on these cars?? I do have moderate skills and tools (also have the ford CD manual for the car)....but I just want to know if anyone has done this in their garage without the need of a lift?

where is the best price for a stock clutch?

My plan is to try and take her trans out myself then take it to a trans shop and they can fix it...and while their doing that I'll simply change the clutch and have the flywheel resurfaced...

Thanks for any replys, I need em bad!
