i just went to pick up my motor today in pittsburg. i just wanted to know the plenums on the new motor are silver and the ones from my svt are black. plus the new one doesnt have the svt name badge. i got this engine from a salvage yard and i stressed to them that the engine was for an svt. they even asked if it was early production or late so i know they knew what i wanted. so can anyone tell me if svt engines came with silver plenums and no svt badge on the top of the plenums

IIRC, the silver or gray intakes are 'regular' 2.5L duratecs

That engine will fit, it will just be lacking 25-30hp.

The magic words are: "VIN G". When I was calling around for engines last summer, this removed any confusion about what I needed. Sounds like you got a VIN L.

Does ithave any plack or marking onthe UIM (where the normal "Special Vehical Team SVT" is or does it say "2.5L V6 24 Valve"?).
Look on the TB for the SVT sticker. There are a few ways to indentify an SVT engine to a "regular" V6 engine.

it has no svt written anywhere and i am really pissed off. my receipt says 98 Ford Contour SVT 2.5L engine VIN G. will i have to pay to ship it back to them. i called ford and they says it is a regular engine also. 7A 828 AA engine code. FOrd says that the SVT's has 8A or 833. at any rate they said that the engine i have is not an svt engine by the code. i talked to a manager at ford and he says he can give me the lowest possible price set @ $2800 for the long block. should i just save up some more money

one more question. the salvage yard gave me $700 back out of the $1000 that i payed for the engine. i wanna know if all the svt electrical stuff will work with the regular 2.5L. also i will have to use my svt intake. will all of these things match up. i wanna get my svt 2.5L rebuilt with better pistons, rods and things like that. anyone know where i can find just a shortblock?

Why are they giving you just $700 back?
I would get a 3.0L and call it a day.
