Turn your domelight on. When you press the moonroof button the light shouldd dim. This means that there is powere going to the motor.
If the light does not dim then the motor could be on a deadspot or fuse blown. Taking a wrench and tapping the motor brought mine back to life. Got it replaced under Warranty.
Last week (2 years later)the moonroof was stuck in the up position. This is was I did in the parking lot at work (it was going to rain).
Get a small flat head screwdriver.
You will need to remove the domelight/readinglight assembly.
On the rear edge of the domelight/readlight assembly pry gently on the rear edges, the entire light fixture will pop out. Unplug it from the wire assembly.
You will see two large phillip screws that holds the roof console cover. Remove them. Slide the console towards the rear of the car to remove it.
You now have clear view of the motor assembly.
I tapped it a couple of times with a wrench then pressed the switch and nothing happened. Then I just wiggeled the entire motor assembly a couple of times and pressed the switch, and the sunroof closed.
Chris Hightower did an incredible job on his explanation one of the possible problems.
