I've had my Mystique for about two months. It is a 1999, with Duratec and MTX; about 30k miles when I bought it. Was in service for three years, sat on dealer's lot for about six months. Over last two weeks or so, I have noticed this odd behaviour: with a hot engine, car won't restart for periods between 15 minutes and about two hours. Then, will start like there was nothing! Has happened 3 or 4 times so far. In a couple of instances, I noticed the wipers running for one cycle. During this afternoon's episode, my wife, who was standing near the passenger-side front door, mentionned she could hear some clicking coming from the engine-compartment. Radio works, warning lights come on, but engine just won't start until it "has decided"to.
I mentionned it to the service advisor where I have my cars serviced, and he was stumped. My first impression was it may have something to do with a new key I got from dealership (my car has got PATS...), but I have ruled it out today (I started carrying an original key just to check out my suspicion).
Any ideas?
Also, I got a CEL earlier last week, went to dealer after 4 drive cycles (light stayed on); error code traced to upstream O2 sensor, sensor was ordered. On second drive cycle after having code read at dealer's, the CEL stayed off after starting engine. Service advisor suggested it would come back eventually, might as well just go ahead and replace O2 sensor. Now today, after a no-start episode, CEL came on after driving for a few minutes (speeding up, from about 50 to 70 kph); did not floor it, depressed accelerator about two-thirds of the way. Any ideas?
