Oh, one more thing...

You have to MODIFY your lower intake manifold on the SVT engine for the 96 PCM.
The SVT has an electric IMRC on the front Valve Cover.
Your 96 has VACUUM control for the IMRC.
I don't know of there is such a thing as an easy swap.
Terry may know.

You need to swap this over/modify as well.

Nope, only the 95 was vacuum controled. 96+ went to OBD-II and the electronic control of IMRC.

Hmm, the smoke coming out of my ears doesn't have much of an answer for you. Does the fuel pump run when the key goes to ON (before START)? It should be (like RoadRunner said), regardless of clutch pos sensor. Do this a few times, and on a properly working setup, you will have pressure in the fuel lines. Hook the gauge up when you do this to see if you can detect the pressure changing. You can actually hear the pump running (sounds like a hum coming from the backseat).

Did you try to short the starter solenoid + terminal to +12V fused (like TB said)? That would narrow it down to the starter/solenoid or something that controls the starter circuit.

Narrowing the scope in these ways would help us come up with more guesses. I can almost guarantee that it is something so minor that you'll be kicking yourself once it's discovered.

Bad Solenoid!!!

I ran some wire with croc clips attached at each end, 1 going from the positive on the bat and the other to the small nut on the solenoid. I had the neg bat connection disconnected at the time. When I went to re-connect the - connection on the battery, the starter motor kicked in, engine cranked and away it went!! It all happend in a split second not to mention that it scared the crap out of me so I pulled the - cable back off the battery!! eek

Did it aain and sure enough everything worked, motor cranked again so it looks like the solenoid is bad. Ordered one today, should be a couple days...

...now my other problem is getting this one off!! mad
I've been trying ALL night to get that one STUPID bolt off that's under all the coolant pipes and is sitting at a angle to make things harder!! I HATE FORD! They make anything and everything as hard as they can!! mad
Don't know how I'm going to get that freakin bolt off. I'm going to bed, I'm exhuasted!!

Thanks everyone who has helped me on this! I REALLY appreciate it all!! laugh

If the starter cranked when you jumped to the small connection its fine, dont buy a new starter...check the feed from the relay to the connector I mentioned nr the battery, with key in crank position it should be hot, check the grounds too...if you have it working by jumping the sol is ok....

I agree with Terry on this one. If the engine cranked over when you jumped the solenoid, the starter assembly is fine. I would begin checking the solenoid pull in wire. If your car has an additional fender apron relay, like the older Fords, check that relay. Follow the B+ wire and solenoid wires back to the relay.

Or check those switches you mentioned, such as the switch at the clutch.

I have checked and re checked all the connections and relays. Everything looks fine. Grounds are where there supposed to be to. I have ordered a new sol so I a couple days I'll see what that does and it "should" fix the problem.
