Has anyone shipped rims with tires? I was just looking the shipping service used and how you packed them.

I was shipped wheels and tires and he just put them 2 each in a box and UPS'd them to me.

Mine were shipped/strapped w/ tape 2-back to back w/ cardboard disks on the ouside to protect the rims, then wrapped in plastic (tightly), kinda like shrinkwrapped - looked like saran wrap. I know if you don't use a box, they may charge you an unboxed fee.

I've received and sent tires/wheels this way. Only thing I'd add is foam sheet between the rim face and the cardboard, as cardboard is pretty abrasive. Also, I didn't bother wrapping the outside in plastic.

Insure them, it's worth the extra $5 or so (per tire) I shipped rims in 4 Gateway computer boxes. Two made it, two didn't. Insurance paid full replacment cost. So I paid the buyee his money back for his two lost rims, and got my full amount from UPS. Neither one of us lost,,, just UPS.
