Dunno what causes this. Doesn't happen when the air is hot but not humid.
Don't think it has anything to do with engine overload, but it never happened below 80mph.

Do you have something similar ?

i had something like this on my 87 taurusaurus...would shoot (coolant-smelling) vapor during same conditions...when it was dry and hot no problem...at nite or in cold morning or foggy type conditions it would happen...finally it got bad i couldn't drive the car w/o having to constantly wipe off the windshield....the diagnosis was a worn out heater core

I had exactly the same situation on my SVT. I replaced the water pump and thermostat, cleaned the radiator and the engine started overheating.

Turned out that the fan's 1st speed resistor died and the second fan didn't turn until the computer gave the command for the 2nd speed.

My mechanic's solution was rather neat - he short-curcuited 2nd speed. This made my case even worse. Turned out that the fan itself rusted and didn't turn at all. The short-curcuit almost caused a fire!!!

Now all is well - I have a new fan block installed. cool

And BTW - the car should run cooler with the a/c switched on - 'cause the fans work continuously.

What's the temp gauge doing w/o a/c on and will the rad fan(s) come on if you just sit at idle, in park, for a while with a/c off?
I've got a '95 GL V-6 with 5-speed manual tranny... built on 9/7/95...
I think all V-6's have 2 fans if I'm not mistaken.
The fan(s) do come on at idle with the a/c off, when it's hot outside... like it should.

My a/c, which over the past few weeks hasn't been working well to begin with, was occasionally giving off warm humid air in bursts with the a/c on.

No mist/fog though....

I'm having the a/c checked at my local dealership...

Wasn't there a recall for that??
The fan's bearings were made too tight or something if I recall correctly.....

Did your "overheating" occur correlate to the a/c being on??

Thanks

This is a problem that I experienced in stop and go traffic when it is really hot (90+). This is something that occurred while my car was under warrantee, but the dealer found nothing wrong. For those wondering, I have the V6 and it definitely runs hotter with the AC on. Should i look to the fan first and if it is a blower problem, was that something that should have been recalled?
