When driving in stop and go traffic my car's temperature gauge starts heading for the "Red"...

And unless I put the heat on, it just keeps on going..

I just had my mechanic change the Thermostat, water pump, belt, and gaskets as a preventative measure.... It wasn't doin this before he got his hands on it....

What could be wrong? Any idea how this guy could have screwed up?

You may have a crimped hose, a pair of hoses criss-crossed, no cooling fluid, a huge air pocket, or maybe the WP belt or tensioner is messed up. I don't think you can put the tstat in upside down on our cars. Your mechanic didn't test his work I guess

I just figured out it happens when I put the a/c on... the higher blower level, the higher and faster the needle moves towards the red. But why? And what's the solution?

It's definately not lack of coolant, although he did add it at 100% full strength (Over the past few days, I've been siphoning out most of the coolant in the reserve tank and putting in pure bottled water to decrease the antifreeze % --- it's still too high to register a significant decrease on a hydrometer...

Regarding an air pocket,; it's been a few days, shouldn't it have cleared up by now?
