Greetings from the states, and esp. for those of you whom I've met...

I signed on my new car today

2004 Mazda 6s
V6, 5-speed, "lapis blue" (kinda like the blue Civic Si/R) with black leather, sport package, luxury package, moonroof, bose system... will post pix if I can find my digital camera (MIA since summer) Can't wait to show it off, it is one sweet ride. Picking up in a couple days, the thing was literally straight off the truck with 6 miles on it. Unfortunately, it's probably going right into my garage where it will sit between snowless days until spring. It's going to feel like a long winter here in VT

Purchasing in VT under Ford X-plan (I'm an ex-FMC employee, but that's not how I got the plan)

Keeping the Mystqiue for the time being.

happy motoring!

Congrats. One question though. Why buy it now if your going to hold on to it till the snow isn't flying to drive it? Are you planning on modding it? I test drove both engines and MTX for each and if I had the cash for a new car I think this would be the one. Enjoy it man.

No immediate plans for mods. I want to live with it for a while as is before making any changes, since I'm planning that it will be my next 8-10 year daily driver.

I honestly don't know why I'm buying now instead of waiting, I'm just impetuous and I was lucky to find exactly the car I wanted locally. There are only a couple Mazda dealers nearby (one in town and one 40 miles away) and they only get allocated a handful of v6 with 5-speed each year, since they make a very limited number of them (apparently only 10% of the build mix, zoom-zoom my ass!) So when one showed up within reach that was pretty much exactly how I would have ordered one, I couldn't resist.

If this winter is anything like the one 2 years ago, there should be plenty of chances to "exercise" it

Sweet good colour. That is the combo I want too if I ever get so lucky as to own one of these fine machines. Granted I assume you haven't gotten on her yet but when I took a couple of these out for a test drive I ran them to red line and either I was botching the shifting or when I let off the gas and clutched in the revs jumped on me. Into the red as a matter of fact. This was on the V^ only. Any clue what that was about. I was figuring it was engine management stuff.

Lord no, only 90 miles on it (6 at test drive and 23 when I picked up) so I'm taking it reeeal easy on it for now. Haven't had any rev problems with it yet, but I don't think I've pushed 5k yet. will keep an eye on it!

I just found it really odd. Granted the car I was testing had a few hundred more Miles on her.

What is it with Mazda and the orange dash lights? It's my only complaint.

Isn't this the Mazda version of the Contour?
