Since we've been on the topic of the SRT-4's with Chris Wong buying one, I thought I'd post a link I saw on focaljet.com. This, by the way, is craziness in stock form. Link: http://www.apexmodified.ca/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=425&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0248/278 at the wheels - translates into 290/325 at the crank, give or take a little. No need to mod that engine! Do I hear the "it's still just a Neon" crowd getting a little quieter?
98 SVT Contour #1702 (silver) - traded in & missed alot!
02 SVT Focus #2686 (blue) - beginning to enjoy the 4-banger.

Nope not by me. In my opinion it is still a Neon and although I agree it is fast etc. I personally still wouldn't buy it. To each his own.

My opinion of its still a Neon remains. My opinion however stems from many years of substandard throw away cars built by Chrysler. It all started with the family Omni. Need I say more? I just haven't gotten past the image in my mind of poor transmissions or engines. Take the Caravan for instance. Get behind one on the road that is over 10 years old. I'll bet prit near %50 are blowing out blue smoke. Heck even some brand new ones are. Neon's or SX2.0's haven't garnered a difference of opinion from me. However I must say if their were a car in the house of Chrysler that increased my heart rate, this would be it. I would consider this car if I were buying new. Most because the warranty is pretty darn good. I'd likely unload it before the warranty were to run out though. Of course this is all conjecture. Either way I look forward to seeing Chris's car when he brings it to show it off.

Having read SCC's engineering assessment of the engine, I think it may be a good one....and damn, a turbo with that kind of warranty........

Let's look at things this way, if it were not for the input of Daimler, I wouldn't even have considered the SRT-4. I have heard and read that Daimler's input was more than just the engine and transmission. They apparantly had some say in suspension set up, materials used and chassis development too. I am not an advocate for Daimler or Chrysler, but here I am buying a non Ford for the first time in a decade. In fact, since 1989, I have only owned one non Ford prior to this one, a 1993 VR6 Passat.

This little number will give my SVT a good run, or may even take already in its stock form, but I have bigger plans for my SRT-4.

Probably because not everybody stays with the same car till the wrecking yard and they wish to keep up to speed on what their next car maybe. Since this is a car forum that is what we try to speak of. Just becasue it is the Contour forum doesn't make the right to talk about other stuff go away. Just my take.
