A couple of weeks back, my water pump went out on my '95 SE. I replaced it and the thermostat at the same time as well as flushing the cooling system. Ever since then, the coolant light has been coming on intermittently. There is plenty of coolant in the reservoir and the car always runs cool even in 100 degree heat. Does anyone have any ideas. So far, it hasn't created any problems, but it does get annoying when the light comes on.

You need to add coolant to the reservior. Even if it looks as though it's full. The sender sticks.

Do a search in this forum, as this has been covered a number of times, and I can't remember exactly how much coolant you need to add to fix the problem.

The adding extra fluid thing worked for me for a while. Eventually the light just stayed on even though it was overfilled. I ended up getting the reservoir assembly from the dealer (couldn't buy the sensor seperately.) I think it was $80 or something like that.

[Insert joke about how ford rips people off here.]

That's strange, I've seen that sensor sold separately before. Maybe it was from AutoZone or something...

I can't add any more coolant, the reservoir is full. Any ideas why the sender would start to stick olny after the water pump replacement, it had never come on before.

Is that the sensor near the bottom of the reservoir?
