No disrespect to Ford, but I've seen slightly lower numbers than the ones given in a naturally aspirated LS1 with modest internal modifications (springs, camshaft, retainors), exhaust headers, X-pipe, and SLP intake lid. The supercharger is awesome, and for modding what can be better than free factory boost on an already high displacement factory engine, however Ford is falling behind, IMHO. The battle of the pushrods versus the overhead cams is ending up in favor of the engine with the longer stroke.
I seriously hope the next generation Cobra engine will be as good of a contender as the new generation GM engines. These guys up in Ford can produce amazing 4V/c, DOHC all alluminum engines like the Duratec on the low end of their product line, yet on the higher end it takes boost to silence their competition ?
On that thought, though, it beats the hell out of what I drive!
