My SVT has started revving on its own- Just had an new IAC valve put in 5 weeks ago, and now coasting to a stop light, the revs will slowly climb to 2500 or 3000 rpms... its not throwing any codes yet, and I haven't cleaned out the EGR passages in the TB yet (but might get to it this weekend)
Has anyone had this happen before? TPS? Its got me baffled.. It was doing the same thing and the dealer had some work to do on it and replaced the IAC and it fixed it for a couple weeks, but now its back and worse..

this happens to me once or twice every few weeks, but it's usually right after I turn on the car, and when the revs fire up, they don't go down for a while...nothing as severe as what you're describing I'm guessing, but it always went away relatively quickly...

Your cars do that when they "warm up", its normal.

car has 62K on it.... happens after car has been driven about 40 miles at freeway speed 75-80 and does it consistently after that.... It isn't throttle hang where the revs don't drop... you can actually push in the clutch and watch tach rise from 1500 all the way to 3000 rpm....

either the IAC is loose, or has a bad gasket, or there's a leak somewhere. It's trying to compensate for additional air coming in. The revs will climb to about 2500, then drop to almost normal, and begin climbing again, right?
contours, deloreans & fiats, oh my!
