Sent film home, had the wife develop it and put it on CD, should be here in a week or so. Will upload and post pics then. Some of Saddam's palace at BAghdad Airport. Sorry, no pics of my tent, lol.

Sandman, on behalf of myself and my family I want to personally thank you and all of your "comrades in arms" as well as your family and each of your comrades families for the sacrifice that you all are making for all of us, world-wide. I wish you all the best and each and everyone of you are on my mind and in my prayers each and every day. I firmly believe that what you are doing now will shape the future for the better for generations to come. Thank you and keep your head down.

A former squid.

Thanks. I hope we do make a difference. Living in this culture, it's hard to tell. Their society has been based on violence for ages. It's pretty much all they understand.

I think we did a lot of good getting rid of Saddam, but I question the fortunes made by companies such as Kellog, Brown & Root (KBR), and Haliburton. I've seen soldiers (and been one of them) doing work contracted out to KBR, which KBR simply never did- so soldiers picked up the slack. I've gone for months now without a day off, sometimes working 14+ hours a day.

KBR and Haliburton have been around for decades, leaching off of wars. It's time they were barred and other companies brought in for logistical support. They have been around too long, and corruption has set in.

Imagine what communication was like back in the World Wars. We are communicating with a soldier a 1/2 a world away instantly. Damn cool.

It wasn't even that long ago. When the Iranian Hostage Crisis took place, I was aboard the U.S.S Nimitz. The only communication available then still were letter's and telephone. Granted, telephone access was more available and mail moves faster then it did in the World Wars, but I don't think it was that different, not like now, click "enter" and zip!

That's what I heard 2nd hand from a returned service man. The reenactment of how they shoot had me rolling on the floor with laughter.
Apparently the Iraqi's will shoot from above their heads, without even looking while running away like rats. Fuggen pussies!

So how many "kills" do you have?

PS keep up the good work and stay safe!

No confirmed kills, in fact this is the first time I had to fire at anyone, ever. I thought I would be scared, but actually I'm more angry at them for shooting at me than anything. If we hadn't had a convoy, we would have hunted them down. It's strange not to feel fear when someone is trying to kill you. All you think of is your training.

EDIT:

Oh, and we are told by the locals that the Iraqis aim by firing from the hip (which I have witnessed) and expect Allah to guide the bullet to their enemies. No wonder the Iran/Iraq war lasted so long. Idiots.
