Hi Don,
What has me concerned is that a/c was NOT on. I have a habit of shutting it down when I need to do heavy accel up big hills. I agree, if the a/c is on I would have said the pwr loss was because of a/c. In this case the a/c is off and when you step on it you can eventually feel a power surge. It's almost like the engine is being choked. I was kind of wondering if it's the throttle hang fix that is in place. The restriction of air through that hose fixes the hang problem but does it cause any other problems? Hope this makes sense. Rob

I would doubt that your IMRC is bad. I will be willing to bet that it is your LIM (lower intake manifold). It gets really gunked and dirty. The Secondary Butterflies are in the LIM, just below the UIM (Upper Intake Manifold). What you both need to do is clean the hell out of the LIM. I had the same issue(as did a good have of the board at one time or another) and after the cleaning it is fine. Don't blow your $130 when all you have to do is buy some new gaskets ($20) and a can of TB Cleaner ($5). The kicker is that it takes about 5 hours the first time that you tear it apart. Take a weekend afternoon and get to know your car! Check the "How To" forums and you can get very helpful instructions.

Ford went through some large hassles to have that happen. Believe me, I removed them and had to replace them. They open and the motor "wakes up".

Sorry Rob, mis-read your post... for some reason I thought your A/C was on. Yes, your power surge is from the IMRC kicking in and opening up your secondaries... the same power surge you feel durring any other type of driving. It's a good feeling and you should like it, it's the highlight of the power curve in that engine. Your throttle hang fix contrary to popular beleif has nothing to do with performance, so don't worry about that. You might feel it "kick in" harder no a days because your butterflies on your secondaries might be sticking a bit which will make it jolt more when they do open (be more sudden), but unless something is not working, I wouldn't worry about it. Yes, after 120K, cleaning your lower intake manifold would not be a bad thing, but if you don't need to, don't worry about it.

No problem, it is kinda' hard to sense people joking around by reading what they say. No biggie... just had a prety bad day too... no excuse, but none the less, no big deal, sorry I jumped back down your throat.
Where did you wear through the cable at? How did you keep them open?

yea no prob dude. i saw what happened on that other thread. dont mind them some ppl just get anxious.
it actually wore right at the hook up in the linkage....some **** right.
what i did was if u move the sping loaded portion there is a little bar that reachs over and hooks up to the mechanism that actually opens up the plates.....i pushed it to open then i got some tie wire and tied it back to the engine pick.
