I was wondering if anyone knows how to remover the A-Pillars in a 98 Contour SE. I need to remove them so I can conceal some cords that I use for my radar detector.

Thanks

I have to remove mine soon too.

I think it just slides up. (not 100% sure about that)

get your finger under the top of the pillar then just gently pull. the trim is attached by 2 or 3 plastic tabs. just make sure you dont get crazy on it and you should be ok.

Upwards not just outward.

On my 98 SVT, the A-pillar trim pulls outward, not upward. You may end up breaking some of the clips, even if you are careful in pulling it off. Ford must have found the most freaking brittle plastic to use for the stupid things! Grrrr...

BUT -- before you pull the A-pillar try this: If you only need to put wire (or other stuff that's not too big) behind the trim, just pull the weatherstripping off the door opening along the trim piece, and stick the wire behind it that way! It'll save time, and save having to probably buy a new clip (or three). I did that for my cell phone hands-free microphone, and it worked swell.

I found that pushing gently against the apillar as you pull up helps keep the clip intact. But i broke mine before i found that out.

My b pillar has some broken clips just from me and/or previous owner hitting it. I removed my c pillar the other day with no problems though.
