Yes, your educated guess is right - my fuelpump is about to die.

I wanted to have a look at it, and I realized I'm unable to pull the rear seat cushion (the bottom part).

The car is a '97 GL, the rear seat is NOT folding.

I clipped out the 2 front (left, right) retainers, tried to push back the s/belt parts, but the cushion didn't come out.

Anyone did it before ?

Thanks,

Tiv

Are u an angel that came to help me ??? laugh

I also have to fold/remove my back seats.. but I can NOT do it.... What is the problem ???

Aren't they supposed to fold at least ???

I check the Ford CD Manual and they mention two types of seats: 60/40 & the one-piece (of $hit).

I have to fold it somehow so that I can remove my hi-mount brake lights...

The CD Manual does tell you how to remove the BUTT part of the rear seat.. but they don't talk about the BACK part of the rear seat... the one I need...

Help me !!!

To remove the rear seat cushion you have to:
1. Pull upward on the front of the seat to release the two retaining clips.
2. Guide the seat belts and latches through the seat cushion.
3. Remove the seat cushion.

That's all you should need to do. I also have a 97 and that's how I did it. Best of luck!

Okay, my car is a 98 but yours should both be the same. So;

Bottom piece, you've already pulled the retainers up. Now the seat wobbles a bit right? There are two small hooks in the floor pan facing rear wards, right around where the middle of your butt would be if you're sitting down. You need to keep the seat flat and push rear wards until the seat pops off the hooks. You may have to push pretty hard if the seat has never been removed.

Back piece, After the bottom is out there are two T50 torx bolts on either bottom corner of the seat. There is a small metal loop that the bolt slides through and threads into the floor pan. Remove those. Next, grasp the bottom of the seat and pull forwards(front of car), or towards you about half a foot. Then while the seat is angled out pull down on the seat and it will slide out of the holes it is fixed into. There are two 'L' shaped pieces on the back of the cushion that slide up under the front of the rear deck.

HTH.

Edit One more thing...if your car has the third row shoulder type seat belt you need to unlatch from its bottom mount. Bend the mount over and there is a small small hole on the underside...a paper clip should just barely fit it in and press up. That will un latch the belt. You shouldn't have to mess with the other seat belts at all. They slide right through the seat.

BBorges,
The rear seat back can only be removed once you've removed the seat cushion. To remove the rear seat back:
1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Remove the two rear seat back retaining bolts from the bottom of the seat back.
3. Lift the seat back upward to release the retaining hooks and remove the seat back.
4. When you reinstall the seat back, torque the retaining bolts to 23-35 ft. lbs. (31-48 Nm).

That's all! Good Luck!

What stupid engineering !!

That pisses me off !! How much more you cost to have folded seats as the standard equipment ?? how much ??
